Drawing problem on Ubuntu 17.04

Message par Octo » 18 avr. 2017, 22:53

I have been using OpenBoard very happily on Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10, but on 17.04 I have a problem:

When I use a pen to draw on the Smart board, OpenBoard connects a line to the end of my last drawing. For example, if I draw an "A" and then pick up the pen and draw a "B", OpenBoard connects the A and B with a line. I also cannot control the toolbar by tapping on the Smart board. I've attached a screenshot.

This only happens when I use the Smart board as the "mouse". I can draw OK with my laptop's mouse. I can also use my laptop mouse to control OpenBoard's toolbar, etc. So the problem is only when I use the Smart board.

How can I test whether this is a bug with OpenBoard (both versions 1.3.4 and 1.3.5), Ubuntu 17.04, or my laptop (System76 "Lemur")?

I use OpenBoard for several hours every day with my classes.

Thanks!

Richard

I returned to Ubuntu Linux 16.04 and OpenBoard works fine.

I realize that 17.04 might not be supported.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. Some users have reported similar problems with other interactive whiteboards (namely Promethean). In all likelihood this is an issue with the hardware drivers, since OpenBoard doesn't even know what sort of input device is being used (it just knows where the cursor is, if it's been clicked and, optionally, the pressure level).

But, it's good to hear that it works fine with 16.04 :)

Thanks. I'll keep using 16.04 for as long as I can, then. Canonical will support it through 2021, I think.

Thanks again for great software! OpenBoard is so much faster, smaller, simpler, and vastly less intrusive than Smart's own software.
