issues with HTTPS

Message par jcmb » 28 mars 2017, 13:10

Hello everyone,

I'm unable to access websites via HTTPS-protocol with OpenBoard's integrated browser on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2015/2016 (64 bit). As a result the GoogleMaps and Pixabay plugin doesn't seem to work either. Pixabay throws a JavaScript error & GoogleMaps doesn't display anything. Everything works fine under Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 16.04.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Thank you!

PS: I'm using OpenBoard 1.3.5

Hi,

We see this issue on Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Education.

It does seem like OpenBoard 1.3.5 is broken on Windows 10. Is there any way this can be fixed please?

Thanks
Moby

Hi,

No errors - just hang. Windows 10 x64 1067.

Recreation:

1. Open Openboard
2. Click 'Web'
3. (Openboard website opens by default) Try to open https site, e.g https://www.google.com - page does not load. No error is displayed.

Same when trying to use plugins - nothing happens.

Tried on several PCs - and at home - none work.

Thanks for any help you can offer :)

Just to make clear - there is no 'hang' - OpenBoard continues to run, but nothing happens at all when you try to visit HTTPS site.

Thanks

Hi,

Just thought I'd mention that I've just tried the latest 1.3.6 - still the same problem occurs.

If you can get this fixed then that would be great!

Yours

Hello

I am having exactly the same issues with https

Any resolution to this in the works by chance?

Presently, we cannot use any google products, wiki, and lots of web pages locked as well,

We would love to deploy this in our schools , we are tired of having 3 different plaforms for our White Boards (Smart, Mimio, Epson) and have our full the ridculous prices being asked my Smart and Mimio if you do not have their hardware.

Thanks

Hello,

Maintaining a secure browser internal to OpenBoard is becoming increasingly difficult. We have also found problems with https sites during tests (although in our case, in all computers in the canton of Geneva, we checked in the preferences to use an external browser).
The new version, which will be released in a few weeks' time, will unfortunately not improve the situation and we will have to assess in 2018 whether, with our limited financial resources, we can correct these problems or whether the financial commitment is too large.

The best solution at the moment is to use an external browser by default.
